For the ninth year in a row, the Zaki Nassif Program at AUB organized the School Choir Competition in collaboration with the Rotary Clubs of Tripoli and Tripoli-Maarad.

The final round of the competition took place on Sunday, May 14, AUB’s Assembly Hall. Fourteen finalist schools from various strings of Lebanon competed with songs of the late Zaki Nassif among others.

This competition is inspired from the words of the late Zaki Nassif who said: “While performing solo, the singer is only highlighted, whereas the orchestra is in the dark. In group singing, each member of the choir feels important.”

The event strengthens young students’ ties with the rich heritage of Lebanon. It also offers the youth opportunities to learn music and voice techniques, while building their teamwork skills and self-confidence.

The competition took place under the supervision of a judging committee chaired by General George Herro and members Reem Deeb, Ghada Ghanem, Gizel Hebbo, and Manal Abou Malhab.

The competition was won by the Imam Sadr Foundation, Tyr. Coming in second place was Collège des Freres Maristes Champville, Deek el Mehdi. Two schools won third place, Collège de la Sainte Famille Française, Jounieh and Collège Sacre Cœur des Sœurs des Saints-Cœurs, Rassié, Zahlé.

The winning teams were offered Gold, Silver, and Bronze trophies and monetary prizes worth $1500, $1000, and $500, respectively.
