The Executive Health and Travel Center
 | Comfort awaits at the Executive Health & Travel Center
| The recently inaugurated Executive Health and Travel Center's choice of the motto, "Your Health, Your Life," seems just right for a program which equates life and health. The program, said to be the first in Lebanon and the region, aims at providing busy executives with overnight exhaustive health care packages that promote healthy living and allow for the early detection of dire health conditions such as cancer and heart disease.
The patient seeking a thorough medical examination must book before hand and select one of several packages sorted according to age, gender, potential risk factors, and family history. Each package includes a variety of tests ranging from a complete blood chemistry analysis and nutritional counseling to prostate screening for men and mammography tests for women. Additional services such as a smoking cessation program, laser vision correction, and cosmetic surgery are available upon request. Upon completion of the procedures, patients are given ample time to discuss the results with the overseeing physicians. Needless to say, the core of physicians involved in the program are all senior faculty members and include in addition to program director and full professor of medicine, Dr. Nabil Nassar, Dr. Antoine Abchee, Dr. Thurayya Arayssi, Dr. Imad Uthman, and Dr. Majida Daouk among others. |
 | Everything the executive needs is provided for
| Patients are expected to stay a maximum of two nights in the executive suite in the AUB Medical Center (AUBMC). The spacious suite on the eighth floor of the medical center is characterized by elegant paintings, Persian rugs, comfortable furniture, and unlimited internet access. The lush setting, easily mistaken for a five-star hotel, is also complemented by the provision of travel, hotel, and leisure arrangement assistance for accompanying families and friends.
Yet another service provided by the program is the travel health clinic which provides traveler's with prescriptions and immunization needed to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. This program is necessary to Lebanon because thousands of Lebanese immigrants living in Africa visit the country regularly and risk the spread of some diseases such as malaria. The travel center may provide vaccines and health advice concerning the safety of food and water for tourists visiting developing countries. |
The long year spent in preparation for this project
is beginning to bear fruit. "It is both necessary and on high demand," concluded Nassar as he counted the seven patients received during the program's opening months.
