Fulbright Scholarship Presentation

Mr. Ryan M. Gliha, the cultural attache at the Embassy of the United States in Beirut, Lebanon delivered a presentation at the AUB campus on Thursday, April 6th 2006, about the Fulbright scholarship program to the senior business class of Strategic Management., upon invitation by Dr Philippe Zgheib, from the Olayan School of Business. Mr Gliha was accompanied by Ms. Maggy Teen, Cultural Affairs Specialist at the US embassy in Lebanon.
During the visit, co-hosted by Professor Michael Kfoury, and Mr Fouad Awad, Dr. Zgheib was granted a senior Fulbright award certificate for successful participation in academic research supported by the Fulbright post doctoral fellowship. Dr Zgheib's business research in the USA was conducted under affiliation with the Entrepreneurship Center of the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie-Mellon University, in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, and with Cleveland State University, Ohio, as well as the North-Central campus of Ohio State University in Mansfield, Ohio on gender sensitive issues of entrepreneurial autonomy comparing start-up business by women between the Arab region, and the USA. |

| In his presentation, Mr. Gliha shed light on the importance of the Fulbright program for exchange students and its key benefits, from acquiring and carrying the Fulbright prestige, to receiving assistance for contacting the best graduate programs for specific fields of study in the USA, to finally enjoying a fully-funded two-year masters degree in any of the US best graduate schools. Mr. Gliha indicated that up to 6 full 2-year scholarships for graduate study in the US are awarded in Lebanon every year, with priority to Lebanese applicants. The session included a thorough and comprehensive discussion of the major rules and conditions for participation in the Fulbright scholarship program.
