Although Hamra has all kinds of shops that are sufficient to meet all needs, several widely popular shops especially supermarkets, shopping malls, and department stores are not located in Hamra. We have listed below the places that we believe are the most popular outside the Hamra region.

Downtown Beirut
Walking in the Beirut Central District (BCD) is always a pleasure as the beautifully revitalized and renovated buildings from the war appear to be the city's most beautiful constructions. Also a site of high attraction, the downtown area is always crowded by people and foreigners are often seen enjoying their Narjileh in the side-walk cafes. Downtown Beirut is a great place to dine, shop, party, or simply walk.
By the Place de L'Etoile stands the Lebanese parliament with its fine architecture and several office buildings, banks, restaurants, and boutiques surrounding it. Few streets away stands the magnificent Grand Serail, also brought back to life after the war, and nearby lay the breath-taking Roman Baths and the picturesque gardens where young couples usually meet and compliment the beauty of the city. Also in BCD is the historical Martyrâ??s square that has witnessed numerous events throughout history and most recently was called â??Freedom Squareâ? in 2005 after the assassination of former PM Rafiq Hariri. In the square stands the popular Martyrâ??s Statue and Virgin Megastore which is worth a visit of its own.
