Pre-enrollment for Visiting International Students consists of three steps, which are explained more fully below and in the documents linked to this page, on the right. Please note that this decribes the procedure for Fall 2012 and Spring 2013 only; as AUB shifts increasingly to an on-line application process, we anticipate that pre-enrollment for Visiting International Students will become increasingly automated and easier.
NOTICE: Successful completion of Step One is highly dependent upon full reading and understanding of the document Understanding Your Pre-Enrollment Options. We very strongly urge you not to send in your course requests until you have done so.
In brief the three steps of pre-enrollment for Visiting Students are:
- Step One -- While Applying to AUB: Select & list the courses which you would most like to take at AUB on your Visiting Student's Application. Choose carefully, and list them in order of importance to your plan of study.
- Step Two -- After Acceptance to AUB: In late summer for fall-entry students & in approximately January for spring-entry students, the Registrar's office will use the course request form from your Visiting Students Application to register you for as many of your requested courses as possible.
- Step Three: First week of the Semester (on campus): Verification and adjustment of preliminary schedules via e-mail or in person with faculty advisors.
Please note that there is also a drop-add period during the first week of each semester which will allow you to make any final adjustments to your class schedule, just as you do on your home campus.

In no case is the American University of Beirut able to guarantee a specific course to a specific student; however we generally find that most visiting students end up with a satisfactory course schedule, including courses that will fulfill their home university requirements.
