Office of International Programs

International Students at AUB

AUB is home to approximately 1500 international students (carriers of non-Lebanese passports) from over 64 different countries. AUB recognizes that international students, whether degree-seeking or incoming study abroad visitors, whether graduate, post-doctoral or undergraduate, whether from Jordan or Japan, have special issues and concerns. The Office of International Programs (OIP) provides resources and services to support all international students, such as the following:

  • Information & support on obtaining any necessary visas and residency permits
  • Special orientation and activities to ease integration into AUB‘s student culture
  • A Student Ambassador service to help get you through the first week, and organize group activities
  • Emergency support services as part of the AUB campus-wide crisis response team procedures
  • Information on studying outside Lebanon as part of your AUB degree program
Your Support Team

The Office of International Programs is currently staffed by a Director, two graduate assistants, and two work study assistants; all of whom maintain advising hours on the third floor of West Hall to support international students.  Our walk-in advising center, in West Hall 320, is staffed Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM until 4:30 p.m during the fall and spring semesters. We look forward to welcoming you there.

If you are unable to drop by the office, you may send questions to us at oip@aub.edu.lb; or for information about special activities to help you learn about Lebanon, contact the AUB Ambassadors group: ambassadors.aub@gmail.com .

Students on the North American continent will soon have an additional resource person to assist them prior to their enrollment at AUB. OIP is in the process of hiring a North America coordinator who will be able to answer questions about our degree programs, facilitate the admissions process for students, and smooth communications across the 7-hour time difference between our two campuses.

The Fall 2011 student body at AUB includes representatives from 70 nations in addition to Lebanon.  The 10 nations with highest representation in this group showcase the cultural and intellectual diversity of AUB.  They are, in order by size of national cohort:

  1. United States of America
  2. Syria
  3. Jordan
  4. Canada
  5. Palestine
  6. France
  7. Saudi Arabia
