Erasmus Mundus Action Two is a scholarship program in which specific groups of universities apply together to the European Union for funding to exchange students for two or three consecutive years.  AUB is currently a member of three scholarship project groups: MEDASTAR, WELCOME and ELEMENT. While the scholarship application is lengthy and competitive, for eligible students it is worth the effort: tuition charges are waived at the host university, travel expenses are paid and the student receives a monthly living stipend of at least 1,000 Euros, depending on his or her level of study (undergraduate & MA, doctoral or post-doc).

EligibilityThis scholarship opportunity is open ONLY to Lebanese citizens or long-term Palestinian nationals of Lebanon. In addition to this first criterion, you must be either a currently enrolled AUB student or academic staff member (Target Group One); a graduate of AUB or another Lebanese University (Target Group Two) or a Palestinian-Lebanese individual (Target Group Three).  Finally, in order to receive a scholarship you must not have lived, studied or worked in Europe for more than 12 months out of the last five years, and you must not have been the previous recipient of an Erasmus Mundus Action Two scholarship.

Where can you study?

At very highly ranked universities in Belgium, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, Sweden, or the UK.  You should be aware that almost all of these universities teach at least some of their subjects in English. For specific information see the summary links  in the right-hand menu box.

Deadlines:

  • MEDSTAR Group: March 24th, for Fall 2012 entry
  • WELCOME Group: March 31st, for Fall 2012 entry
  • ELEMENT Group: Deadline passed; there will be a call in November 2012 for Fall 2013

How to apply:

All Application materials are submitted on-line to the scholarship group's lead institution; materials required vary by partnership group and level of study, so read the project websites (links to the right) very carefully.  If selected for a scholarship, you will automatically be admitted to the university which has agreed to review your application.  AUB students (Target Group One) who want to go on exchange as part of their current degree program should also review AUB study abroad policies and procedures, then meet with an OIP advisor in West Hall room 320 if they have specific questions.  All other applicants should work directly with the scholarship group contact person or help desk function.
