OSB’s partners have supported academic endeavors in the business domain by helping establish four faculty chairs reserved for distinguished thought leaders and scholars in specific discipline areas. We currently hold four such chairs:
-
The Abdulaziz Hamad Al-Sagar Chair in Finance
In March of 2007, the family of Abdulaziz Hamad Al-Sagar generously donated a grant to endow an OSB faculty chair carrying the name of Abdulaziz Hamad Al-Sagar Chair in Finance. The endowment advances study in the field of corporate finance and investments through world-class scholarship. The chair enhances teaching, research, and service and reinforces finance curricula at OSB. As regional financial markets grow and develop, excellence in finance is a prerequisite for building the kind of infrastructure needed by businesses to perform competitively in the Middle East and beyond.
Abdulaziz Hamad Al-Sagar was a leading "opposition" politician and Arab nationalist in Kuwait in the early mid-20th century. Like members of his family, namely his father Hamad and brother Jassim, he was devoted to promoting political freedom and protecting human rights. The Al-Sagar family members are prominent businessmen, who launched and ran some of the region's most successful enterprises. Abdulaziz Hamad Al-Sagar headed Kuwait's first Consultative Assembly in 1921 and was chairman of the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce for many years.

The Husni Sawaf Visiting Professorship in Business and Management
Advances in soft skill areas such as organizational behavior, human capital management and strategic innovation are in their very early stages in the Middle East region and require interdisciplinary approaches. Yet, they are the most widely debated topics in modern management best-practices and global business scholarship endeavors today. Mr. Husni Ahmed Sawwaf, a good friend to Distinguished Professor Constantine Zurayk, donated $1,000,000 on April 30, 1985 to establish The Husni Ahmed Sawwaf Professorship in Business Management. The Husni Sawaf Visiting Professorship in Business and Management engages prominent visitors on a rotating basis to provide the regional business community with varied cutting-edge perspectives on leadership, change, organizational design, strategy and general management with emphasis on regional applications.
-
The Sheikh Said Hemadeh Chair
The campaign for the establishment of the chair began in July 1963 when Vice President Archie Crawford circulated a letter to alumni and friends advising them of the launching of a fund raising campaign to endow a chair in the name of Said Hemadeh. The endowment advances study in the field of business management by enabling OSB to invite prominent thoughtful leaders and researchers to the school on visiting assignments.
