The creation of the Office is the outcome of a project initiated by Internal Audit in 1997 to convert all policy and procedure manuals to electronic format. The Policies and Procedures Office is responsible for ensuring adherence to a standard format in the development and documentation of policy and ensuring consistency between Departments.
Comprehensive documented Policies and Procedures are central to effective administration. They set out the framework within which the University and its Medical Center function. They reflect how our clients, be they students, patients, faculty, staff, alumni, or the public at large, will be served by the Institution. A consistent high quality of client service is one of the primary aims of the Institution. Consequently, documenting how those services are provided is of paramount importance. Policies must be transparent so that clients may know what to expect, and procedures must be clear and simple such that they can be, and are, followed.
To date a number of existing policy and procedure manuals have been "put on line" in a special section of the AUB website that is accessible only to users on the AUB network under "Administrative Units". Existing electronic manuals include the Policies and Procedures Manual for Non-Academic Employees, the New York Office Manual, and numerous Medical Center and Campus Departmental Manuals.
The Electronic Policies and Procedures manuals constitute the latest and most up to date listing of approved University Policies and supersede any previously printed material. By their very nature they are, and will continually be, "under construction" as new Policies and Procedures are introduced and old ones revised. What you can access now on this site is only part of the work, that part which has already been started and updated. There is much more to come, and we advise you to keep visiting this site for more Policies and Procedures and more updates. The search process is easy; you can either access the available Policies and Procedures via the AUB Home Page "Site Search" engine, or you can go to the Policies and Procedures Section and use its own search engine to find out about a policy or procedure. If your query is unattended, that means that the policy or procedure in question is not yet electronically accessible or available.
