Office of the Provost

The provost welcoming new faculty

Mission
To improve the quality of the University's teaching and research programs and its academic support services through development and implementation, in cooperation with other senior administrative officers, of its academic and budgetary management and planning.
Welcome!

Please take a moment to browse through our website in order to get a sense of academic life at AUB and to learn more about several new and ongoing initiatives to support faculty and students as they meet their educational and research goals.

AUB has a long and distinguished history as one of the region’s leading universities. In recent years, there has been a shift in emphasis as the University realizes its aspiration of becoming “an acknowledged leader in graduate education and a respected member of the global network of research institutions.” Many of the initiatives developed by the Provost’s Office are intended to support the achievement of this aim. Others are meant to strengthen the University more broadly, for instance, by empowering departments and faculty; improving student enrollment services; standardizing the core curriculum; reinforcing institutional integrity; and assessing the performance of our programs and of the institution as a whole.

This website provides information about all of these initiatives and more. Transitional periods are untidy by nature, with some processes changing rapidly and others scrambling to keep up. To reduce confusion, we have tried to include many of the policies, procedures, and guidelines developed in the last few years. More will be posted as they arise.

Professorial faculty seeking promotion or reappointment may wish to review the policies posted under Empowering Departments. Those wanting to apply for a research grant or leave should visit Faculty Development.

If you have questions or comments about how we can improve this website or about what the Provost’s Office does and how it can strengthen its performance, we would like to hear from you.

Ahmad Dallal, Provost
