As AUB’s chief academic officer, the provost is responsible for the conduct, coordination, and quality of the University’s academic and research programs. The provost seeks to actualize AUB's academic potential by cooperating with other senior administrators to develop and implement its long-term academic and budgetary planning and management strategies. The provost is assisted in this undertaking and others by the associate provost, ad hoc appointees, and permanent staff in the Provost’s Office.
The provost also works closely with the president and academic deans to ensure the timely review of all academic programs and policies, and the appointment, promotion, and compensation of faculty members and professional personnel in the University’s academic divisions.
The provost also oversees the administration of the University's academic support units, such as the Library and the offices of the Registrar, Admissions, and Student Affairs, and its interfaculty research centers and teaching units. More information on the provost’s direct reports may be found under ‘Academic Support’ and ‘Research Centers and Institutes.’
