The University Senate, believing that student participation, responsibly carried out, enhances the educational process which is the principal function of the University, establishes under, and in conformity with the rules and regulations of the University, student representative committees whose guiding principles shall be:
- The committees shall act in the interest of the student body and the University as a whole.
- The actions of the committees shall, in all instances, abide by the spirit and letter of the rules and regulations of the University.
- The committees operating within their competence shall, in all their actions, be responsible before the University.
- As the AUB Policies and Regulations state: “Each of the seven faculties of the University shall have a student representative committee.” (...)
Students seeking to run for election must submit a completed “Candidate Nomination Form”. Forms will be available at the Office of Student Affairs, West Hall – Room 112C and in various faculties two weeks prior to the elections.
To be eligible for election a candidate must be either an undergraduate student enrolled for at least 12 credits or a graduate student taking at least 6 credits. In addition, candidates must not currently be on probation and / or have received a Dean’s warning.
Candidates must also present their AUB identification card when submitting the completed form at the Office of Student Affairs from whom they should obtain a receipt. This receipt is necessary for withdrawal and on elections day.
GENERAL REGULATIONS:
- Stands, chairs and tables are provided by the Office of Student Affairs. Approval of the OSA is required before use of stands.
- Construction of stands is strictly forbidden. Decoration of stands is allowed provided it conforms to the above policies.
- Requests for stands are available at the Office of Student Affairs and on-line.
- Every four candidates are entitled to one stand chosen by the Office of Student Affairs by a draw.
- Individual candidates who prefer not to share one of the existing stands will be given a table and a chair if available.
