In response to the question about my experience with
the Ambassador Program:
My Ambassador was very nice to me, very friendly, and I like the idea of the program. However, we never really saw each other-- perhaps some kind of plan for the first week, where your Ambassador takes you downtown, or you go out to dinner together, would be a useful way of kicking off the summer together. Also, as the pledge was not taken seriously by any of the CAMES students, she was understandably confused when I was only speaking in Arabic, which hugely limited conversation. I gave it up after 24 hours, but perhaps it could be made clear to the Ambassadors that their visitors may be trying to abide by the pledge, or to the CAMES students that they don't need to abide by the pledge when talking to their Ambassadors. Again, I want to emphasize that any kinks in the program are not at all the fault of my Ambassador, who was absolutely lovely. And I think it's great you asked for input about the program.

Best regards,
Mary Weld
