New Employees

The University Health Services perform medical examination to new personnel in accordance with the Hospital Insurance Plan and Lebanese Ministry of Labor.

Full-time employees
Part-time or Casual employees


Full time employees

  • Each new employee obtains a Pre Employment Physical Examination form from the personnel office and presents it to UHS.
  • Two Medical Records forms are given at UHS to the new employee to be completed. (also downloadable) 
  • The new employee is then given an appointment for physical exam, after two days
  • The new employee is referred to the nurse for height, weight, vision, and blood pressure examination.
  • Then he/she is referred to the Laboratory for urinalysis, PPD. screening test, VDRL, blood grouping, Hemoglobin & Hematocrit. A Hepatitis profile for hospital employees and foreigners is performed.
  • The new employee is given a chest X-ray request to be done at AUH and is asked to report after 48 hours for reading of PPD.
  • If the new employee is above 40 years old, an EKG is done.
  • If the new employee is a woman above 30 years old, a Pap smear test is done.

    Part time and Casual Employees

  • Laboratory tests required are only PPD, urinalysis, Hemoglobin & Hematocrit. Casual employees do not benefit from HIP coverage of Laboratory tests or specialist referrals. 
  • They will have their height, weight, blood pressure taken by the UHS nurse
  • If PPD reading is more than 10 mm., a chest X-ray is requested. 
  • Physical exam is not required.
