Items are obtained through various suppliers overseas, Canada, UK, American Universities, etc.. If after searching LIBCAT - the online library catalog, and Journal Finder, you discover that the University does not own the material, then you may use the Document Delivery Service.

The DDS department is located at the entrance level of Jafet Library, Circulation Desk. Staff can be contacted :
Monday – Friday 8:00am. – 5:00pm., by:
telephone: (01) 350000 Ext: 2619,
fax: (01) 744703, or
email at dds@aub.edu.lb

Eligibility and Fees

All AUB active members may request Document Delivery Services (DDS), free of charge.

Turnaround Time

The time varies depending on what you are requesting and from whom. The average time required is between 24-48 hours to two weeks, according to the supplier selected and the delivery method. Materials which are difficult to locate or which are incompletely or inaccurately cited might require more time, in that case, we will advise you.

Submitting Requests

All DDS requests must be submitted online through the Journal articles request form (accessed through the "Faculty Services" or "Student Services"). All fields should be filled in. If you have specific time constraints, please note them in the appropriate place on the request form. Please note that we do not accept requests by phone.

Responsibility of Requestors

Before submitting the DDS request, users should check the online library catalog - LIBCAT, and the Journal Finder. Both databases are accessible from the University Libraries homepage. Accurate and complete publication information will enable the Document Delivery staff to process your requests in the shortest possible time.

Materials Eligible for Requests

Journal articles, chapters or selections from books, papers from conference proceedings..

Materials not Eligible for Requests

We do not accept requests for materials available through LIBCAT (online catalog), or any other material available in the Library (through Journal Finder or databases). We do not provide PHOTOCOPY services if articles are available in the Library. In the latter case, we inform the user of the availability and location of the material requested.

Notification Delivery

All articles received electronically, by the DDS staff, will be sent directly to the requestor’s desktop. This will reduce turn-around time for the delivery of articles as well as negate for requesters to come to the Library in person to collect the articles. The speed and convenience offered by the electronic Document Delivery Service is facilitated by the use of the software Ariel (a document transmission system over the Internet).
DDS will notify you via your e-mail when the article is received, so please check your e-mail regularly. Most articles will be delivered in Portable Document Format (PDF). To view the article, please install Adobe Acrobat software on your PC.

For articles received by standard mail and by fax, they will be sent to the requestor by campus mail.
