The Munib and Angela Masri Institute of Energy and Natural Resources provides a vehicle for promoting research and advanced study in the petroleum, water, and energy disciplines, as well as a focal point for collaborative research among scientists, engineers, and professionals in Lebanon and in the region at large. The institute serves as an interfaculty coordinating unit in AUB and a catalyst for advanced research in the sciences and engineering for the management and conservation of natural resources and energy.

Second Annual Workshop on Energy and Natural Resources
The AUB organized the Masri Institute Second Annual Workshop on Energy and Natural Resources on Friday, May 20, 2011 in the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture.
The workshop included five seminars by AUB faculty from FAS and FEA who had presented their research findings related to projects sponsored by the institute. The invited keynote speaker in the workshop was Prof. Patrick Linke from the Chemical Engineering Department of Texas A and M at Qatar.

AFED Meeting in FEA/AUB
The Arab Forum for Environment and Development (AFED), in collaboration with the Munib Masri-Institute for Energy and Natural Resources in AUB, organized a consultation meeting to discuss the draft of the AFED 2011 annual report "Transitioning to the Green Economy". The meeting was held on Monday, April 18, in the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at the American University of Beirut.
The Transitioning to the Green Economy report will address the necessary conditions for navigating a green transition in eight sectors: energy, water, agriculture, tourism, waste management, transportation, industry and cities/buildings. The report will be released in October 2011, during AFED annual conference.
