Information Centers

  • Lebanon Reforestation Initiative (LRI)
    The Lebanon Reforestation Initiative (LRI) is a program funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by the United States Forest Service (USFS).
  • Association for Forests, Development & Conservation (AFDC) 
    The AFDC was established in 1993 to achieve sustainable conservation of natural resources, raise awareness, and build capacities to contribute to the national efforts for better environmental management.
  • Global Biodiversity Information Dissemination (GBIF)                                                                                                                        
    GBIF is a website that aims at Facilitating digitization and global dissemination of primary biodiversity data, so that people from all countries can benefit from the use of the information.
  • National Biodiversity Network (NBN)                                                                                                                                           
    NBN is a new and innovative way of sharing wildlife information in the UK and is building tools to make this information accessible in a digitized and exchangeable form. By providing easy access to the information people need about wildlife, wise and informed decisions can be made to ensure the natural environment is diverse, rich and sustainable now and for future generations.
  • National Biological Information Infrastructure (NBII) 
    NBII is a broad, collaborative program that provides increased access to data and information on the nation's biological resources.

Environmental NGOs and Research Centers

  • World Resources Institute (WRI)
    WRI is an environmental think tank that goes beyond research to find practical ways to protect the earth and improve people's lives. Its mission is to move human society to live in ways that protect Earth's environment and its capacity to provide for the needs and aspirations of current and future generations.
  • World Wildlife Fund (WWF)
    A website that aims at preserving the delicate diversity of nature by raising awareness over endangered species, encouraging wildlife conservation, and helping protect animals' habitats.
  • Center for Applied Biodiversity Science (CABS) 
    CABS works to link science and action to guide the conservation of nature worldwide. Its primary purpose is to provide the scientific basis for conservation action.
  • The Global Facilitation Unit for Underutilized Species (GFU)
    GFU promotes wider deployment of underutilized plant species globally. Its activities focus on: networking and knowledge-sharing and encouraging incorporation of underutilized plant species in international and national research and development agendas.
  • Palestine Museum of Natural History                                                                                                                                 
    The Palestine Institute of Biodiversity Research and its Palestine Museum of Natural History (PMNH) work to research, educate about, and conserve our natural world, culture, and heritage and use knowledge to promote responsible human interactions with our environment.

  • Biodiversity hotspots
    The ultimate goal of this organization is to keep nature intact, which means stop anthropogenic species extinctions. To approach this goal, they try as much as possible to slow the rate of extinction with whatever conservation resources they have at their disposal, which requires incorporating threats (or “vulnerability”) and costs into priority setting.

    A website that contains easy and fun information about the natural history museum in London, which promotes the discovery, understanding, enjoyment, and responsible use of the natural world.
  • Mexico for Kids                                                                                                                                                    
    A website whereby kids can learn easy definitions related to biodiversity, notions regarding ecosystems, species, conservation, etc. 
  • WWF fun and wildlife games                                                                                                                                               
    An interesting website for children. They can play interactive wildlife games and learn about endangered species, wild places and global challenges along the way. Check out the WWF online Action Kit for more activities and find out how to be a force for nature.
  • U.S Fish and Wildlife Services 
    Learn how the loss of habitat and ecosystems can lead to a decline in biodiversity, and how the Endangered Species Act helps conserve endangered and threatened species. This is a kid’s corner for educators and students.
