Ziyad Mahfoud

		Advisor of AUB- TCRG Dr. Hirschhorn’s career in public health over more than four decades spans award-winning research, teaching, and management of complex, multi-disciplinary projects, both in the United States and abroad. He was a co-developer of the life-saving method of oral rehydration for diarrhea in adults and children, from the bedside to national programs, for which he was honored with awards from the Dana and Pollin Foundations, and commended by President Clinton. After two years as Visiting Professor at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health, he served as Director of the Division of Family Health at the Minnesota Department of Health. He is a lecturer at Yale University School of Public Health. Now semi-retired, he serves intermittently as consultant to groups researching tobacco industry documents and tobacco control. He lives in London and Beirut, providing pro bono assistance in tobacco control to the Faculty of Health Sciences, American University of Beirut.
