As per the University Radiation Safety Regulations, and the requirements of the Lebanese Atomic Energy Commission, the Joint Commission International (JCI) and the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the Health Physics Services provides various radiation safety orientations for all users of sources of ionizing radiation at the University. All employees whose work involves the use of sources of ionizing radiation are required to attend yearly radiation safety orientations. First timers are required to sit for a quiz, and the certificates issued upon the completion of the orientation are to be added to the employees files in the Human Resources Department.

The Health Physics Services Division provides the following types of radiation safety orientations:

• Radiation Safety Orientation for Users of Unsealed Sources of Radioactive Materials in Research
  
• Radiation Safety Orientation for Radiographers
  
• Radiation Safety Orientation for Cardiographers
  
• Radiation Safety Orientation for Blood Bank Personnel and PLM Housestaff
  
• Radiation Safety Orientation for Housekeeping Personnel
  
• Radiation Safety Orientation for Nurses
  
• Radiation Safety Orientation for Pediatrics Housestaff
  
• Radiation Safety Orientation for Research Assistants and Laboratory Technicians

Radiation safety orientation handbooks are available for all of the above listed orientations.

The Health Physics Services is in the process of preparing the following radiation safety orientations to be provided in the near future:

• Radiation Safety Orientation for Radiology Housestaff
• Radiation Safety Orientation for Cardiology Housestaff
• Radiation Safety Orientation for Endocrinology Housestaff
