The Equipment Control Section strives to provide optimal equipment control, from the time of receiving until complete retirement. This section maintains data on motor vehicles, medical, laboratory, office machines, and automatic data processing equipment owned by the American University of Beirut (Campus and Medical Center).


Information Technology - Systems Infrastructure at the Materials Management - Equipment Control section, regularly evaluates promising (what does it mean) new technologies and implements new services for the university community in terms of equipment management. In line with the University's strategic goals and objectives, information technology employs technology to improve the conditions for controlling and managing equipment at AUB.

Database: Microsoft Access 2003
Date of development: June 2003
Upgraded: 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008
Note: will be retired whenever the new software is released.

Forthcoming (Under development)
- Equipment Management Information System (EMIS)

Database: Oracle 10g (forms 10g)
Date of development: January 2006
Current status: system is in test phase

Future development (5 years plan)
- Logistics and Transportation Management Information System (LTMIS)
- Customs Information Management System (CIMS)
