The Power Plant Manager, assisted by a specialized crew of skilled technicians, implements needed inspection, planned maintenance, overhaul schedules and preventive maintenance to insure that all generating sets, boilers, auxiliaries and distribution systems remain in proper operating conditions.

Twenty four hours a day, 365 days a year, the electrical plant and the steam plant provide the AUB Campus and the Medical Center with all the requirements for:

Electricity: The power plant is equipped with eight diesel engine generators. Electrical power is generated at 3,300 volts for distribution throughout the Campus and Medical Center.

Steam: Three steam boilers, saturated steam at 110 psi is generated for distribution throughout the campus and the Medical Center to provide building heat, hot water, cooking and sterilizing. Steam is also used in absorption chiller for the production of chilled water.

This division also supports connection of the above utilities to new capital construction projects.
