Professor Majid Fakhry, Emeritus Professor of Philosophy at the American University of Beirut and Visiting Research Fellow at the Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding, Georgetown University, gave a lecture entitled “Dialogue of Civilizations: Islam and the West” on Thursday December 4, 2008.

CAMES hosted a symposium on December 5-6, 2008 entitled "Negotiating Boundaries: Cultural Exchange and Production of the Mediterranean".
