Resources and
Services for CAMES students at the
University Libraries
Resources:
The
University Libraries (at Jafet) hold over half a million printed
volumes, many of which relate to the history of the Arabs and
the modern Middle East. Jafet Library owns over 1400
manuscripts, overwhelmingly concerned with matters pertaining to
Islam and other aspects of Middle Eastern life and history. The
periodical subscriptions include seventy titles that deal
exclusively with the Middle East. Journals dealing with the
region are also found in the over one hundred databases the
Library subscribes to. In addition to the over 200 Arabic
journal titles, the University Libraries have one of the largest
and most complete collections of Arabic newspapers covering the
colonial period of the 19th and 20th
centuries. The reference collection includes online resources
such as the Encyclopedia of Islam, the
School of Oriental and African Studies database (MECAS),
Index Islamicus and Historical Abstracts.
