Founded in 1866, the American University of Beirut is a teaching-centered research university based on the American liberal arts model of higher education. AUB has over 8,000 students and 800 faculty members. AUB is accredited in the US by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and includes six faculties: Arts and Sciences, Medicine, Engineering and Architecture, Agricultural and Food Sciences, Health Sciences, and Business. Hala Bikhazi is director of benefits at the American University of Beirut (AUB) since October 2017.
She formulates the mission, vision, and direction of the benefits program and manages AUB’s health and welfare benefits programs.
In her 20 years of experience within the academic and healthcare industries, Hala served as assistant director of benefits as well as education and retirement programs’ manager at AUB. She was previously a clinical department administrator and a research assistant at AUBMC.
Hala holds a BS in biology with a minor in business from McGill University in Canada and, an MBA in management and marketing, and a master of public health in healthcare administration, both from AUB.
She is certified by the Association of Title IX Administrators as civil rights investigator, by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) as SHRM senior certified professional, and by the Human Resource Certification Institute as senior professional in human resource - international (SPHRi). In addition, Hala attended different trainings that focused on different fields such as HR, HRMS, EMR, leadership, data science, insurance, Title IX, quality management and communication skills.
