Abdul Mohsen Al-Qattan

A trustee emeritus since 2005, trustee since 1993, and an AUB graduate (BBA ’51), Al-Qattan is the founder and chairman of the A.M. Qattan Foundation, one of the leading cultural and educational institutions in the Arab world. After a career as a teacher in Jordan and Kuwait, Al-Qattan moved into government as controller general of the Ministry of Water and Electricity in Kuwait. He later founded and managed several successful companies operating in the Middle East and Europe, including Al-Hani Construction and Trading, which became one of Kuwait’s largest construction firms. Al-Qattan was a co-founder of the Welfare Association (Geneva), a Palestine representative to the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (Kuwait), a member of the General Assembly, and a board member of countless cultural and educational organizations including the Arab Thought Forum (Jordan), Institute for Palestine Studies (Lebanon), Arab Cultural Foundation (Lebanon), and Center for Arab Unity Studies (Lebanon). He received an honorary doctorate from Birzeit University in 1999.
