Ghassan Abou-Alfa

An alumni trustee since 2020, Abou-Alfa (BS '88, MD '92) is a professor of medicine at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Weill Medical College at Cornell University. He the immediate ex-chair of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) Hepatobiliary Task Force , and still serve on the steering committee of the AIDS Malignancy Consortium. He is the president of the International Society of Gastrointestinal Oncology. Abou-Alfa helped initiate the Joint AUB and Memorial Sloan Kettering academic and research collaborative effort since 2005. He also co-founded and continue to support, with his wife Dr. Eileen O'Reilly, a scholarship for AUB students requiring a written reflection form the winning candidates on how to serve humanity through their education. This is add to the AUB Trinity Endowed Exchange Program for Medical Students. Abou-Alfa received a Distinguished Alumni Award in 2016. He is graduate of Columbia University (MBA '16).​
