Viviane S. Tabar

​A trustee since 2019 and a former AUB graduate (BS '85, MD '89), Tabar is the chair of the Department of Neurosurgery and the Theresa Feng Chair in Neurosurgical Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. She is also the co-leader of the New York State consortium for the development of human embryonic stem cell–derived dopamine neurons for Parkinson’s disease. She developed strategies for cell-based therapies for the repair of radiation-induced brain injury. Tabar completed her postdoctoral work at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke following her neurosurgical residency at the University of Massachusetts.​
