Sheikha Altaf S. AlSabah

Sheikha Al Sabah, an AUB alumna (MA '75), is a researcher, writer, educator, and cultural advocate. Enamored by textiles' colors and textures from a young age, her path has led her throughout the world to gain a deeper understanding of artisans and their creative expression; she has dedicated her life and work to supporting the cultural heritage of Kuwait and the region. Sheikha AlSabah is the author of two books, Kuwait Traditions: Creative Expressions of a Culture (2001) and Ibjad: Ornate Tent Dividers and Weavings of the Kuwait Desert (2006). She is also the Honorary President of Sadu House, an artistic house and museum in Kuwait City and she established the Altaf S. Al Sabah Visiting Chair in Women and Societal Development Studies at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at AUB.​​
