Adnan Shihab-Eldin, PhD

Dr. Adnan Shihab-Eldin is the former director general of the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (retired). He served earlier as acting secretary general and director of research of OPEC, director at IAEA, director of the UNESCO Regional Office for ST (Cairo), director general of KISR (Kuwait), and vice rector of Kuwait University (KU). He held research and faculty positions at LBL (UC Berkeley) and KU, and was a visiting scholar at a number of institutions in the US and Europe. He is adjunct lecturer at Vienna Business University and research associate at Oxford Institute for Energy Studies. He serves on boards or advisory committees of many universities, institutes, and companies. Dr. Shihab-Eldin has published extensively within the fields of energy technology and economics, nuclear science, the environment, and Science & Technology and higher education in developing countries. Dr. Shihab-Eldin graduated from UC Berkeley with a bachelor's in electrical engineering and a doctorate in nuclear engineering.
