The HPCH department Enhances the ability of students to develop, implement, and evaluate interventions to promote health. The department offers courses that introduce students to the social context of health and to the multi-level factors influencing behavior change. It also provides instruction in the application of qualitative methods in community health research.
Through this program, students will be strongly involved in collaborative learning and real life experiences. Scholarly activities are guided by principles of social justice, ethics and community participation.
The teaching curriculum is geared towards preparing health promotion practitioners to analyze health determinants, design, implement as well as evaluate interventions and policies.

Undergraduate courses are also offered by the HPCH department as electives. These course are designed to introduce students to the role of health educators as agents of change and to the importance of participation in health interventions. The HPCH department offers a concentration in Health Promotion and Community Health for the Master of Public Health (MPH) at the graduate level.
