​Mission Statement

​The mission of the Conservation and Preservation Section (CPS) is to protect and care for AUB’s cultural heritage, including the Early Printed Books, Maps, Manuscripts, Photos and Posters stored in the Archives and Special Collections, in addition to repairing circulating materials that are stored in the General Stacks.

Objectives and Functions

  • Take preventive measures to slow the deterioration of materials and to maintain and repair the print collections at the University Libraries.
  • Perform simple and advanced print materials restoration and repair techniques in accordance with established standards in the field.
  • Prepare condition assessments of items and collections and advise on conservation needs and options.
  • Develop and implement disaster management plans and assist in emergency preparedness, response, and recovery.
