The AUB University Libraries (UL) are proud to announce that they have signed an agreement with the University of Maryland (UMD) to acquire a non-exclusive ownership of the “Arab Women Pioneers and Leaders" website and all its contents.
The agreement was fulfilled on August 31, 2021, as a result of the initiative of Dr. Nadia Cheikh, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at AUB and Dr. Charlotte Karam, Suliman S. Olayan School of Business faculty member and Director of the Center of Inclusive Business and Leadership for Women (CIBL.W), in collaboration with the UL.
Due to the current minimal availability of resources to create a full-fledged new website in the current local social and economic circumstances, the UL has temporarily archived the UMD's Women as Partners in Progress (WPP) site under the Resources section on its website such that it is publicly accessible through this URL: https://lib-webarchive.aub.edu.lb/sites/https://pioneersandleaders.org/
The UMD's Women as Partners in Progress (WPP) knowledge center acknowledges the advancement of Arab women's progress and aims to break stereotypes and support the empowerment of women & their allies. It is designed for knowledge seekers: women, men, policy makers, NGOs, research institutes, business people, international development agencies, students and the media, among others.
Dean Cheikh said that “this a timely gift as AUB is launching its Co-ed Centennial celebrations."
Fatmeh Charafeddine, Interim Director of AUB University Libraries said that “this is a great addition to the library holdings, representing opportunities to further develop the site."
