As part of his visit to AUB campus, Japanese ambassador in Lebanon, Mr. Takeshi Okubo, visited the AUB University Libraries on February 23, accompanied by Second Secretary of the Japanese Embassy, Mrs. Minami Kunitomo and other esteemed guests from AUB.
During the visit, the ambassador inaugurated a Library exhibit highlighting items from the libraries' collections about Japan and the Japanese culture.
Fatmeh Charafeddine, Interim Director at the University Libraries and Samar Mikati, the exhibit curator and Associate University Librarian for Archives & Special Collections, welcomed the guests and walked them around the exhibit, describing the displayed special collection, its value to researchers and how it reflects AUB's efforts and keen interest in preserving local, regional, and global cultural heritage and history.
The exhibit includes a collection of literary works, items and artifacts about Japanese cultural heritage. It will remain on display at Jafet Memorial Library's lobby area until March 3, 2022.
