Professor Makhlouf Haddadin: a Short Guide

The University Libraries (UL) announce a new research guide that commemorates the life, achievements, and research contributions of Professor Makhlouf J. Haddadin who sadly passed away last September.

An American University of Beirut alumnus who joined its Chemistry Department right after completing his postdoctoral research at Harvard University, Professor Haddadin co-discovered Beirut reaction with Professor Costas H. Issidorides in 1965 and co-discovered Davis-Beirut reaction with Professor Mark Kurth in 2005. Professor Haddadin served the American University of Beirut almost all his life and held several crucial positions including Acting Dean (FAS and FHS) and Acting President on several occasions.

The guide is a humble showcase of Professor Haddadin's rich academic biography and impressive research output in addition to lectureship and awards bearing the organic chemist's name. During the opening session of the 2022 Makhlouf Haddadin Symposium held on October 6, President Fadlo Khuri bestowed the University Medal on the late Professor Haddadin.
