Celebrating UL Staff’s Accomplishments

​The University Library staff gathered earlier today to celebrate Nabila Shehabeddine, who received the President’s Service Excellence Award this year, and to celebrate the graduation of several of its hard-working staff members.

Nabila is the Head of Research and Instruction Services at the University Libraries and is more than deserving of this recognition. Known as the ‘go-to’ person for most research services at the Library, Nabila receives library users from all departments in the University, who call upon her experience, knowledge and helpfulness. Her good teamwork spirit and loyalty to her work have endeared her to her colleagues. Congratulations Nabila!

The Libraries also proudly celebrated the staff members who have completed their graduate studies this year, namely:

Masters in Science in Communications and Information- Media Studies from the Lebanese University; “Social Media and Social Change among Young People”

Masters in Library and Information Science from the Lebanese University with Distinction; "Collection Development in the American University of Beirut Libraries through Gifts and Exchange Materials". 

  • Hiba Farhat- Serials and E-Resources Department

Masters in Library Science with Honorable Mention from the Lebanese University; “Information Literacy Skills in Lebanese Public High Schools

  • Bassem Fleifel- Collections Department 

PhD in History with Distinction from the Beirut Arab University; “The Role of the Ottoman Empire in Protecting the Lebanese States and Provinces 1516 – 1840” 

  • Rania Kanj Kiwan- Research and Academic Collaboration Services Department

Masters of Arts- Education from AUB: “Leadership under Crisis: Implementation Challenges of the Grades 1-9 English Language Curriculum for Syrian Refugees in North Lebanon” 

  • Batoul Morgan- Cataloging and Metadata Services Department

Masters in Library Science with Honorable Mention from the Lebanese University; “Structuring Bibliographic Data: The Role of RDA in Creating Linked Data
