The University Libraries keep and safeguard the legacy of the late Robert Saliba, an AUB Professor in the Department of Architecture and Design, and a well-accomplished urbanist. Professor Saliba's research focused on Beirut's historic evolution and postwar reconstruction. Among his publications are four monographs: Urban Design in the Arab World: Reconceptualizing Boundaries (Ashgate, 2015); Beyrouth Architectures: Aux Sources de la Modernité (Parenthèses, 2009); Beirut City Center Recovery: the Foch-Allenby and Etoile Conservation Area (Steidl, 2004); and Beirut 1920-1940: Domestic Architecture between Tradition and Modernity (Order of Engineers and Architects, 1998).
