As a continuation to their partnership with the Wikipedia Education project at AUB, initiated by Abir Ward (Communication Skills Program- English Department), the AUB University Libraries (UL) took part in the first Wikipedia Edit-a-thon held at AUB in November of 2021.
As part of AUB's Coed Centennial, 2Rāth, a Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC), the edit-a-thon aims to diversify Wikipedia content on Arab women.
Four UL Librarians joined the Wikipedia Edit-a-thon training sessions and participated in the editing process, describing the event as eye-opening and enlightening, as they found how multifaceted and delicate editing information on Wikipedia can be.
They all agreed that the Edit-a-thon was a learning experience, and proudly received the training attendance certificate, earning them important basic knowledge of how to publish and edit on Wikipedia.
The University Libraries had an integral role in the Wikipedia Education project at AUB, since the beginning of the process back in 2019, when the initiative was born.
