  Founded in 1866, the American University of Beirut is a teaching-centered research university based on the American liberal arts model of higher education. AUB has over 8,000 students and 800 faculty members. SHARP offers didactic courses and hands-on training in the essential disciplines to conduct quantitative research, namely epidemiology, biostatistics, research ethics, and library science/informatics.

Being the first of its kind in the region, the Scholars in HeAlth Research Program (SHARP) Two-semester Online Diploma is a successful model available in several top-tier academic institutions in the US.
