Sophomore & Freshman

Apply as Sophomore

You are considered a sophomore applicant if

1- you are finishing 12 years of schooling 
and 
2- following and completing one of the following programs in your high school/ secondary years:
  • Lebanese Baccalaureate (LB), French Baccalaureate (FB), Syrian Baccalaureate, Jordanian Tawjihi, or German Abitur
  • International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma
  • International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE)/ General Certificate of Education (GCE):
    • 3 A levels + 5 O levels, or
    • 6 AS level + 5 O levels  
Note:The O levels exclude second language and physical education​
  • ​Official Government Secondary School Leaving Certificate if equivalent to the Lebanese Baccalaureate


Apply as Freshman
You are considered a freshman applicant if:

1- you are finishing 12 years of schooling 
and 
2- completing one of the following programs:

  • High school programs
  • IB Certificate
  • IGCSE: O levels
  • Official Government Secondary School Leaving Certificate

What is included in the freshman program at AUB?

  • The freshman program is a year without major, consisting of 2 terms.
  • You can take various courses and follow either a scientific track or a humanities track.
  • After completing the freshman year, you can enroll in a specific major at the sophomore level, based on your GPA.
