Undergraduate Diploma Programs​

Teaching Diploma Program

The teaching diploma program prepares elementary and secondary school teachers. This requires specialization in a subject matter area that can be completed before or during professional preparation in the Department of Education. Once completed, this preparation culminates in a teaching diploma that qualifies a student to teach at either the elementary or the secondary level.​

Diploma in Special Education 

The diploma in special education provides knowledge and practical training in the area of special education for children with mild learning problems between the ages of three and fifteen years. Holders of such a diploma are expected to be able to deal with children who have learning/cognitive processing problems enrolled in special as well as in regular schools

Diploma in Educational Management and Leadership 

The diploma in educational management and leadership provides knowledge and practical training in the areas of educational management and leadership. Holders of this diploma are qualified to become managers of schools and educational training institutions and programs.

Graduate Diploma Programs

Diploma Scholarship Program (The Dodge Foundation)​ 
Through a generous grant from the Cleveland Dodge Foundation, AUB will be offering 8-9
scholarships covering full tuition for one year, 21-credit teaching or special education diploma programs each year for the next three academic years starting fall 2019–20.

The goal of the Dodge Foundation Teacher Training Scholarship Program at AUB is to develop a cadre of highly trained teachers who can contribute to efforts to improve the quality of teaching in Lebanon in schools serving underprivileged students.​

Professional Diploma Program in Green Technologies 

The professional diploma program in green technologies (Pro-Green diploma program) caters for professionals aspiring to enhance or complement their technical and decision-making skills in terms of green technologies, or green businesses. Completion of the diploma program will give the qualified student a solid foundation on which to start or further his/her career through developing successful strategies for green technologies including: energy utilization, building design and construction, and management systems; sustainable and safe water production, water management and waste water treatment. The professional diploma degree program in its three majors (energy, building, water) offers outstanding academic quality that enable students to study at top universities with focus on areas of innovation developed with state-of-the-art science and technology expertise.

Scholars in Health Research Program (SHARP)

The Scholars in Health Research Program (SHARP) provides the fundamental skills in the essential disciplines to conduct research, namely epidemiology, biostatistics, research ethics, library science/informatics, and involves hands-on training in the analysis and reporting of large health related datasets in non-communicable diseases.  For more information and application, please refer to the SHARP website; as the below sections/tabs are not applicable to SHARP.

Diploma in Food Security

The diploma in food security provides a holistic, inter-disciplinary perspective on a critical challenge for the Middle East and North Africa region and the wider developing world. Students will explore the dimensions of food security – availability, accessibility, appropriate utilization, and stability – and their application to public policy and programming in the areas of nutrition, trade, agriculture, public health, food safety, and income generation. Students will gain the skills to design and manage policies and programs within governmental, non-governmental, and multilateral organizations.

Diploma in Special Education 

For admission to this program students may enroll as part of their bachelor's degree program or after completing the bachelor's degree. It is preferable if the undergraduate major is in education or in psychology, but students with other undergraduate majors may be considered. Graduate Diploma Programs

Diploma Scholarship Program (The Dodge Foundation)​ 
Applicants must have completed a BS/BA or equivalent, meet AUB’s English language proficiency requirement, be willing to complete a 21-credit diploma in one year, and make a commitment to teach at a school that serves underprivileged students in Lebanon for three years.

Professional Diploma Program in Green Technologies 
For admission to the professional diploma program in green technologies, students should apply through AUB's Office of Admissions. The applicants should have a recognized and related bachelor degree in natural science, mathematics, engineering, or architecture. Diploma in Food Security (Temporarily frozen)​
The diploma in food security is open to both recent graduates and mid-career professionals, providing them a solid foundation on which to start or advance their careers. IMPORTANT NOTE: Please note that starting fall term 2019, the American University of Beirut will begin billing students in US dollars rather than Lebanese pounds for tuition, housing, and other fees. Settlement of bills will continue to be possible in either currency at the market rate of exchange. The change is being made after AUB joined the Common Application for admissions to nearly 900 US and international institutions.

The non-refundable application fees (only in USD) can be paid in one of the following ways:

Cash: You can pay at the Cashier's Office in AUB (Please do not send cash in mail).

Check: You can place in your application package, a check drawn to US or Lebanese banks and payable to the American University of Beirut.
