  Founded in 1866, the American University of Beirut is a teaching-centered research university based on the American liberal arts model of higher education. AUB has over 8,000 students and 800 faculty members. The University encourages freedom of thought and expression and seeks to graduate men and women committed to creative and critical thinking, lifelong learning, personal integrity, civic responsibility, and leadership.

AUB offers more than 130 programs leading to bachelor's, master's, MD, and PhD degrees. The main language of instruction is English.

Janet Jeries Haddadin Nursing Award

Awarded to an undergraduate student with the highest GPA.

Rouzan Al-Najjar Memorial Award in Nursing

Funded by the Yafa Foundation to honor the life and legacy of Rouzan Al-Najjar, a Palestinian nurse/paramedic fatally hit by a bullet as she was volunteering as a medic in Gaza, Palestine. The award is given to the most academically qualified Arab nursing students who show outstanding academic and professional promise and intend to work in nursing after graduation.

Salma Mansur Jurdak Excellence Award in Nursing

Conferred on a graduating student majoring in nursing who excels academically and demonstrates dedication to the profession. Ms. Salma Mansur Jurdak (1920-2017) was a nursing graduate (1942) who served at the Legation of Lebanon in Washington, DC and later with the Contracting And Trading Company (C.A.T.) in Beirut.

Siham Rida Ali Endowed Nursing Award

Conferred on a graduating senior student in nursing who demonstrates excellence and high impact in a community project or engagement. The award honors Siham Rida Ali, recognizing her dedicated career as a practicing nurse for over 45 years, her care for the health and wellbeing of her community, and her love as a mom.
