 AUB4Beirut Disaster Response

More than 200 people lost their lives as a result of the August 4 explosion that devastated Beirut, wounded more than 6,000 people, and left 300,000 homeless. AUB responded quickly – first at our medical center, where we cared for 500 people in the first 24 hours – and then to the needs of our community – helping to clean up debris, repairing homes and businesses, and distributing food and medications. We are also repairing buildings on our campus that were impacted by the explosion. Although the physical damage is most apparent, there is enormous damage to people’s lives and dreams as well and so we are working hard to secure even more funds for student scholarships. The AUB4Beirut Disaster Response will continue – for as long as help is needed.
