The mission of the American University of Beirut (AUB) is to save lives, to educate and empower citizen leaders, and to work actively every day for a better tomorrow for our community, our peoples, our hometowns, our region, and the world. We are all saddened and dismayed at the worsening cycle of violence, aggression, and death that is taking place before our eyes. As President Fadlo R. Khuri noted on October 18 at an event held at the AUB Medical Center in solidarity with the people of Gaza, “We will not and cannot stay silent when there is destruction of hospitals, murder of innocent civilians and children, and deliberate targeting of journalists. We cannot be neutral. We will continue to care for our people every day. We will carry on doing what we must.”

It is in this spirit that we have launched an initiative to raise urgently needed funds for medical care for the innocent victims in Gaza. To insure that donations for the Gaza Humanitarian Medical Relief Fund reach their ultimate beneficiaries swiftly and are impactful, proceeds collected will go to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), which is actively present on the ground in Gaza caring for its people.
