We organized our first-ever Giving Day in 2018. It was a great success. We had every intention of organizing a second – and even more successful – Giving Day in 2019, but the political unrest in the country and the deteriorating economic situation, which has since gotten much worse, made that impossible.
In 2020, we celebrated Thanks-for-Giving Day – an occasion for us to thank our worldwide community of alumni and friends who rallied in support of Lebanon and our university in the aftermath of the devastating explosion in the Beirut port on August 4, 2020.
Despite the continuing challenges and the global pandemic, we celebrated Giving Day 2021 lighting up the world map with donations from 42 countries.
The results of Giving Day 2022 exceeded our expectations. A total of 1,151 alumni and friends in 61 countries in six continents (Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America, and South America) joined together in the celebration, surpassing the original goals of 1,000 donors from 50 countries.
AUB Giving Day 2023 was a global celebration. We received donations from 1,531 donors in 69 countries and raised $1,671,665. We are deeply grateful to everyone including our alumni and friends, alumni chapters, and Giving Day partners and sponsors, who joined together, gave, and made an impact on December 4, 2023.
As it does every year, AUB's 5th Giving Day coincided with the university's celebration of Founders Day. AUB set records in 2024: we received donations from 1,318 donors in 78 countries, every state in the US, and 7 out of 10 Canadian provinces. More than $2 million was raised for faculty priorities, the AUBMC Emergency Response, and the AUB4Students Scholarship Fund.
