2021 is AUB's centennial of admitting women students to the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and to its professional schools in medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy. To celebrate this event AUB launched the AUB4Women Campaign.
About the AUB4Women Campaign
In 1921, AUB decided to admit women students to the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and to its graduate programs in medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy. This extraordinary and courageous step would provide tens of thousands of women in Lebanon and the region with a unique experience. It charted a courageous path, contributing to a shift in gender relations and providing young women of our region with the possibility to imagine a different future.
Family and friends of Rima are supporting the Rima Moussallem Otrakji Endowed Scholarship Fund to celebrate this remarkable woman who has helped and inspired many others and to provide urgently needed support for exceptional women students at AUB who are facing a dire financial situation.
About Rima Moussallem Otrakji
Rima’s passion to help others started from a very young age. She has been supporting AUB since she was a student when she gave concerts as a skilled guitarist, accompanied by a wonderful band. Rima has remained very connected to AUB over the years, serving at one time as both vice-president and president of the WAAAUB South Florida/Miami Chapter. She also sits on the board of several other organizations with which she is actively involved.
Rima is a powerful example of an accomplished woman who balances – with grace and success – her love for family, for the environment, for cats, her voluntary efforts, her love of teaching, and her entrepreneurial work.
How it will work
- The Rima Moussallem Otrakji Endowed Scholarship will support women students at AUB.
- The endowed scholarship fund will exist at AUB in perpetuity and will be invested with the large pool of endowed funds at AUB.
Thanks to Rima’s generous family and friends, we have surpassed our minimum target of $100,000. It is Rima’s wish to continue funding for this scholarship. The larger the fund, the greater the annual income, and the more women students at AUB who will be supported. Your contribution of any amount will help support women students at AUB. AUB is extremely grateful for the gifts that have already been received.
Your gift will honor Rima Moussallem Otrakji, inspire young students, and have an enduring impact on their lives, as well as their families and communities.
Thank you for your support!
