2021 is AUB's centennial of admitting women students to the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and to its professional schools in medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy. To celebrate this event AUB launched the AUB4Women Campaign.
About the AUB4Women Campaign
In 1921, AUB decided to admit women students to the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and to its graduate programs in medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy. This extraordinary and courageous step would provide tens of thousands of women in Lebanon and the region with a unique experience. It charted a courageous path, contributing to a shift in gender relations and providing young women of our region with the possibility to imagine a different future. The establishment of the Suad Joseph Endowed Scholarship Fund is part of the AUB4Women Campaign.
Family, friends, colleagues, and mentees of Dr. Joseph are supporting the Suad Joseph Endowed Scholarship Fund to celebrate the important work and research on gender studies led by Dr. Joseph and to provide urgently needed support for exceptional women students at AUB who are facing a dire financial situation.

How it will work
- The Suad Joseph Endowed Scholarship will support women students at AUB regardless of their major.
- The endowed scholarship fund will exist at AUB in perpetuity and will be invested with the large pool of endowed funds at AUB.
- Our target is to raise a minimum of $100,000. Once it is fully endowed, four percent of the accrued total is provided annually as financial aid to the selected student/s.
Your contribution in any amount will help us reach our goal of $100,000. AUB is extremely grateful for the gifts that have already been received:
Your gift will honor the work of Dr. Joseph who feels strongly that it is important not just to educate more women, but also to involve them in gender studies so they can learn more about the condition of women in their region and start making impactful changes that will bring more equity to their societies. Your gift will also have an enduring impact on the lives of generations of women students at AUB, as well as their families and communities.
Thank you for your support!
