They did it again. AUB’s Dubai Chapter hosted a wonderful gala on November 8. Executive Vice President Mohamed H. Sayegh, speaking on behalf of President Fadlo R. Khuri, gave a keynote address focusing on Health 2025, the president’s vision to make AUB a prominent global partner on health. He spoke also about the many changes that have taken place at the AUB Medical Center to make it an even more dynamic and resilient place that is able to provide the care that is needed in crisis and post-crisis situations. “AUB will enhance the social and human well-being of populations by serving as a leading hub for clinical and population health education, research, and practice,” Sayegh explained. He spoke also about the Health Sciences Complex that AUB is building and that will become home to all core health units at AUB. Another recent development at AUBMC is the launch of AUBHealth, the new electronic medical records system that enables patients to, for example, access their medical records, check test results, contact their physicians, and also schedule appointments electronically.
Vice President for Advancement Imad B. Baalbaki and Associate Vice President for Develoment and Alumni Relations Salma Oueida also attended the gala that was a successful fundraiser for the Dubai Chapter increasing its record-breaking support for scholarships at AUB. “Our alumni chapters play an important role in the success of the BOLDLY AUB campaign—in Dubai and around the world,” said Baalbaki. He noted that the Dubai Chapter has been especially generous raising more than $6 million over the past 10 years to provide scholarships for more than 100 AUB students. “We can always count on the Dubai Chapter and the vibrant alumni there,” said Oueida. “They have done so much to support AUB and financially needy students over the years.” Alumnus Pierre Choueiri, chairman and CEO of Choueiri Group, who is a great supporter of the chapter also spoke at the gala reflecting.
