The American University of Beirut (AUB) is ranked 133rd globally, securing the top spot in the Arab world in the Digital Leaders in Higher Education 2024 world rankings, and up from 190th globally last year. AUB was also ranked 48th worldwide under the category of best institution in computer science studies.
Digital Leaders in Higher Education is a set of specialized rankings conducted by Emerging, an HR consultancy and professional training agency to highlight institutions leading in digital skills across disciplines. It is the only university ranking that is based solely on the points of views of digital employers and uses data mining to score university occurrences in the educational trajectories of digital professionals.
The global rankings identify the top 200 universities for digital leaders globally by combining five subject-specific rankings. These encompass computer science studies (30 percent), data science, AI and business analytics studies (30 percent), digital transformation management programs (20 percent), digital entrepreneurship programs (10 percent), and online programs (10 percent). The best universities and schools are recognized across these categories, covering crucial fields of study, ranging from technical expertise to soft skills development, and encompassing all aspects of digital transformation and acknowledging interdisciplinary approaches within the digital realm.
With an aim to encompass both the prevalence and perception of university programs in the digital sector, category rankings integrate data from two sources: 150,000 digital professionals, representing alumni success, and 3,697 digital experts, reflecting employer evaluations. This approach crafts rankings that not only signify educational prestige but also practical impact and real-world effectiveness in the digital competence of institutions across 38 countries spanning all five continents.
AUB empowers learners to innovate, solve complex problems, and revolutionize technology across all industries and its digitalization extends beyond the boundaries of specific scientific faculties, showcasing a rising trend of interdisciplinary collaboration within the university. This trend underscores the swift adaptation of not only its business school but also all other AUB faculties to the evolving digital landscape.
Emerging agency collaborates with Times Higher Education to release the Global University Employability Ranking and Survey (GUERS), which holds the distinction of being the most referenced ranking by employers globally. In 2024, GUERS recognized AUB as one of the top institutions (ranking in 154th position globally) to graduate highly employable students, reflecting AUB's ability to ensure its graduates' preparedness for the job market and the university's commitment to graduate future leaders.
