The American University of Beirut (AUB) has improved its position in the newly released QS World University Rankings (WUR) 2027, rising 14 places to a tied rank of 223rd—placing it in the top 15 percent of 1,504 institutions listed, out of more than 8,800 evaluated worldwide—while maintaining its standing as Lebanon's top-ranked institution, and ranking 8th in the Arab region.
Released on June 18, 2026, by QS Quacquarelli Symonds, the rankings reflect sustained progress across multiple performance indicators. AUB recorded improvements in Employment Outcomes, Employer Reputation, Citations per Faculty, Academic Reputation, and Sustainability.
AUB's highest-performing indicator was in Employment Outcomes, where the university scored 99.8 out of 100 and ranked 18th in the world—up 15 places from the previous year. The result reflects AUB's long-standing reputation for producing highly skilled graduates who contribute meaningfully to their professions, communities, and societies across the globe—placing the university among the world's leading institutions in graduates' career readiness and leadership.
As students and families increasingly seek evidence of evidence of post-graduate employability and long-term professional success, AUB's performance in this area—which measures both graduate employment and the longer-term impact of its alumni — points to the lasting value of an AUB education. The university's alumni go on to careers in business, healthcare, public service, entrepreneurship, research, and civil society throughout the region and beyond.
These results also reflect AUB's commitment to advancing knowledge and translating it into societal outcomes.
At a time when universities, governments, policymakers, employers, and students turn to international rankings to navigate the global higher education landscape, the QS World University Rankings provide a key benchmark for institutional performance, reputation, research impact, graduate outcomes, and societal contribution. AUB's advancement this year reflects its continued ability to compete on the global stage while remaining committed to its mission of service, innovation, and excellence.
