Charles Hostler Student Center (CHSC) staff member and team member of the National Amateur Body-Builders' Association (NABBA) Abdallah Berro represented Lebanon in the two international championships in bodybuilding this summer, ranking among the top 10 in both competitions.
After months of preparation, commitment, and dedication, Berro flew to Cecina in Tuscany, Italy to participate in the NABBA World Championship on June 16, 2018. He was able to win 6th place in the fitness model category among 45 other participating countries. On June 23, 2018, he was awarded 5th place in the same category at the World Fitness Federation (WFF) European Championship that was held in Bayreuth, Germany. “Raising the Lebanese flag up high was one of my main goals that motivated me to continue and prepare for the second competition,” said Berro.
Berro talked about some of the challenges he faced while preparing for these championships such as the strict diet, time commitment, and the lack of financial support for such sports in Lebanon. He added, “Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what gets you going. Hard work and strong will can defeat all physical, emotional, social, and financial obstacles.”
Upon his return to Beirut, Abdallah Berro visited AUB President Fadlo Khuri and presented him with the cup and trophy.
AUB’s Director of University Sports Ghaleb Halimi congratulated Berro and considered his dedication and personal initiative to be a great example for the AUB community.
